Developed for use in Moto GP, the In&Motion vest provides an airbag for all motorcycle riders, which can be worn under any type of jacket and has an integrated back protector.

The vest uses a device known as the In&Box which contains embedded sensors and an algorithm which is capable of detecting a crash or an unrecoverable loss of balance; data from the sensors is analysed to inflate the airbag in under 100 milliseconds.

The vest connects to a smartphone, allowing the user to obtain data such as their speed or even GPS data; if it detects that the wearer has stopped moving, it can also call the emergency services.

To complement its existing WIM offering, IRD has introduced a system to detect under-inflated and flat tyres at highway speeds. Tyre inflation pressure has both safety and economic impacts for road users and none more so than with commercial vehicles. An underinflated tyre has decreased directional control, increased risk of catastrophic failure, and negatively impacts tyre life and fuel economy. Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)-based positioning is unique among available positioning technology due to its universal coverage and low equipment cost. By measuring the distances between an unknown position (such as a vehicle), and at least three known positions (GPS satellites), the unknown position can be calculated in three dimensions (latitude, longitude, and

Bosch, in partnership with Autotalks, Cohda Wireless and Ducati, has developed a prototype solution which connects cars and motorcycles, allowing them to communicate with each other in a bid to reduce the number of crashes involving motorcyclists. According to estimates by Bosch accident research, motorcycle-to-car communication could prevent nearly one-third of motorcycle accidents. The system enables vehicles within a radius of several hundred metres to exchange information about ten times a second about
