Signal conditioning modules

The Industrial Automation Group of Advantech has introduced two new signal conditioning modules, the ADAM-3112 and ADAM-3114. The 3112 is an isolated AC voltage to DC voltage module while the 3114 is an isolated AC current to DC voltage module. Both devices can convert up to 400V AC or 5A AC signals to 0~5V DC signals for data acquisition cards to measure while reducing the harmful effects of ground loops, field noise and electrical interference. These modules are suitable for DIN rail mounting, designed for

The Industrial Automation Group of 548 Advantech has introduced two new signal conditioning modules, the ADAM-3112 and ADAM-3114.
These modules are suitable for DIN rail mounting, designed for easy wiring and can be connected through screw terminals, which simplifies wiring and maintenance.

Jason Barnes looks at where the detection and monitoring sector is heading. In the future, there will be no such thing as an un-instrumented road. Just a short time ago, that could have been a quote from a high-level policy document but with the first arrivals of vehicles with 802.11p connectivity – the door-opener to Vehicle-to-X (V2X) applications – it’s a statement which has increasing validity. The technology which uses our roads will also provide information on road conditions but V2X isn’t the only

David Crawford reports on an urban electronic nervous system. The northern Spanish city of Santander – historically a port - is now an emerging technology showcase attracting global attention as a prototype for a medium-sized smart city of the future. In a move to determine the optimal use of available data, it is creating a de-facto experimental laboratory for sensor and mobile phone-based urban traffic management and environmental monitoring innovations.
  • Major automakers shift towards onboard chargers for electric vehicles
    May 6, 2015
Most battery and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) manufacturers in Europe and the US have been adopting onboard chargers with a power output between 3 to 3.7 kilowatts (kW), according to new analysis from Frost & Sullivan. Now, EV manufacturers are moving towards onboard chargers with a power output greater than 6.6 kW to reduce charging time. While high-end PHEVs are contributing to this trend, lower-end models in this segment are still using 3.7 kW onboard chargers. Consequently, onboard chargers
