Visualisation specialist 20 Barco has announced its new LED-lit rear-projection video walls and says that the OL series presents significant quality improvements over the current state of the art in LED projection.

These new rear projectors come with Sense6, which the company claims is a unique sensor technology that

co-ordinates across multiple rear-projection modules to provide brightness and colour stability over time and across the entire video wall screen. Barco's LED-lit video walls have an advanced heat management system based on state-of-the-art liquid cooling to efficiently counteract the effects of high temperatures on the LED light sources. The company claims its system can provide an additional 10°C of temperature decrease on the LED light source, effectively doubling its life and also reducing noise substantially.

Solar power has been relatively slow in entering the transport sector, but a current blossoming of activity bodes well for the large-scale harnessing of an alternative energy that is zero-emission at source and, in practical terms, infinitely renewable. Traffic management and traveller information systems, and actual vehicles, are all emerging as areas for deployment. Meanwhile roads themselves are being viewed as new-style, fossil fuel-free ‘power stati

For many, Ethernet- and IP-based networks are the cast-iron solution to ITS's communications needs. However, there remain issues from manufacturer to manufacturer with interpretation of what are supposed to be common standards The 'promise' of Ethernet was that different devices such as IP video cameras and traffic signals could be easily integrated into communications networks, simplifying the process of transporting data over copper, fibre or wirelessly. However, although Ethernet devices have come to pre
