A webinar from Cubic Transportation Systems this week looks at how urban authorities can prepare for future challenges.

On The Road to Resilience - Keep Your City Moving will examine how to adapt infrastructure as traveller behaviour changes.

Post-Covid, for example, the use of cars and bikes - and walking - has been on the rise in cities, which will have an impact on congestion while presenting safety issues for vulnerable road users.

There is also an environmental issue here - and a real problem for mass transit providers as anxious travellers switch to other modes to mitigate what they see as the risk of infection.

Technology will be vital in providing people with new types of seamless journey.

The moderator is Andy Taylor, director of strategy at Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS).

Speakers are: Jeff Price, general manager at Cubic | Gridsmart, Joe Custer, general manager at Cubic | Trafficware and Doug Thomas, CTS product unit vice president.

Touchless transit, adaptive signal control, data optimisation and traveller behaviour will be among the topics covered.

The webinar takes place on Wednesday 12 August at 3pm Eastern Time (US and Canada).

It's not just gathering the data that's important, says Johan Herrlin - it's making sure that transport organisations share it with one another that will determine travellers' satisfaction. Data is transforming the way we move around cities, from family car journeys to the daily train commute. Gone are the days when travelling from A to B meant remembering your AA map and having to ask for directions at regular intervals. If you were trying to navigate London as a tourist a mere decade ago, it required
