Q-Free has won a NOK 60 million ($6.9m) contract from the West Virginia Department of Transportation, Division of Highways, (WVDoH) to deliver an upgraded state-wide advanced traffic management solution (ATMS).

The firm says the eight-year deal allows for opportunities to generate additional revenues from the delivery of new features, functionalities and solutions.

Håkon Volldal, CEO at Q-Free, says: “We are very pleased to continue our long-term cooperation with WVDoH and feel honoured that WVDoH chose Q-Free to upgrade their statewide ATMS."

"With this contract we secure another important recurring revenue stream for our traffic management unit.”

WVDoH has been using Q-Free’s ATMS since 2008.

Elsewhere in the business, Q-Free formally launched Hi-Trac TMU4X, a multimodal, Weigh in Motion and data collection solution offering automatic vehicle classification along with pedestrian and cyclist data counts.
