Pack Health has partnered with 8336 Uber Health to offer free transportation for patients with chronic conditions travelling to medical appointments in the US state of Alabama.

Mazi Rasulnia, CEO of Pack Health, says: “For members who lack reliable means of transportation, or whose health prevents them from driving themselves to key follow-up appointments, offering a free ride through Uber Health is a simple and intuitive way to close care gaps."

Pack Health, a health coaching platform, says the partnership will allow its staff to request and coordinate rides for members via a centralised dashboard.

Riders do not need the Uber app or a smartphone as ride information is sent via text to their mobile phone. Patients can then trigger the ride when they are ready with an SMS response.

As part of the agreement, Pack Health will assess the impact of the offering by tracking usage and asking follow-up questions to members who use the service.

Last November, Uber entered an %$Linker: 2 External <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?><dictionary /> 0 0 0 link-external agreement false https://www.itsinternational.com/sections/transmart/news/uber-enlists-mv-transportation-drivers-to-pick-up-disabled-passengers/ false false%> to add drivers working for MV Transportation to its app to provide more wheelchair-accessible vehicles to disabled passengers.
