The project includes design, development, implementation, testing, maintenance and support for a single statewide platform to promote coordinated traffic management and operations across the state.

Open Roads will design and implement the Next Gen ATMS using its configurable and scalable OpenTMS platform which includes a browser-based graphical user interface and modules to support intelligent responses to incidents and planned events, shared control of all existing and future ITS field devices, data fusion and travel time computation, asset management, and integration with existing PennDOT, business partner and adjacent state systems.

The Open Roads team includes infrastructure company 6812 Gannett Fleming, consulting engineers 6813 Pennoni Associates, 6814 Berkeley Transportation Systems (a business unit division of 73 Iteris), engineering consultants 6815 Advantage Engineering Associates, and IT management firm 6816 Pemcco.

Barbara Skiffington, President of Open Roads, commented, “We are excited to win this prestigious project. PennDOT has been at the forefront of ITS deployments and operations so it is most gratifying to be recognised by such a progressive agency and be awarded this critical assignment. This win is a testament to the talent and the technology expertise that the Open Roads team brings to PennDOT.
