Instant mobility – pre-ITS World Congress workshop

An important workshop is being held prior to the ITS World Congress in Vienna, with the aim of promoting discussion between the ITS community and the EU Future Internet Public-Private Partnership programme (FI-PPP). Instant mobility is a two-year research project in the EU FI-PPP that is exploring the potential of future internet technologies to improve the mobility of people and goods, and the operation of transport networks and systems.

An important workshop is being held prior to the 6456 ITS World Congress in Vienna, with the aim of promoting discussion between the ITS community and the EU Future Internet Public-Private Partnership programme (FI-PPP).

Instant mobility is a two-year research project in the EU FI-PPP that is exploring the potential of future internet technologies to improve the mobility of people and goods, and the operation of transport networks and systems.

The workshop takes place in the NH Danube City Hotel in Vienna on 21 October 2012; the FI-PPP programme and its opportunities will be presented, as well the project’s concept of a "Transport & Mobility Internet", and preliminary results on business models, user acceptance, security and privacy requirements for future internet-enabled services.

The project team plans to use the workshop to exchange views with cities and other stakeholders on the added value of future internet for ITS, and to gather expressions of interest for future pilot implementations of instant mobility services.

    Organised by Ertico-ITS Europe and ETSI, the third eCall testfest was held at CTAG in Spain at the end of October, joined by new IVS (in vehicle system) and PSAP (public safety answering point) vendors from all over the world.
