French car manufacturer Groupe PSA says its ‘free-floating’ car-share service provides members in Washington, DC with access to 600 vehicles.
The Free2Move service is available to drivers for a $10 membership fee and does not include late fees, per trip fees or insurance charges, the company adds.
Members can use the Free2Move app to locate, book and open/lock the vehicles.

Uber has launched its Uber Bus service in Egypt as part of a strategy to provide commuters living in Cairo with an affordable transportation option.
The service can be accessed via Uber’s standard app. Uber groups passengers travelling in the same direction to make the service more affordable and reduce the number of stops per trip.

Getaround has expanded its peer-to-peer car-sharing service in San Diego in the US. The service allows car owners to earn money by renting vehicles to people in their neighbourhood.
The company says it expects many car owners who subscribe to the service to earn more than £1,000 per month.
Each car is equipped with Getaround Connect, a proprietary technology which allows renters to locate and unlock the vehicle by using the company’s app.

Jump, an Uber bike-rental company, has upgraded its electric bikes to include swappable batteries which it says can be changed within a few minutes.
Riders can use a front dashboard underneath the handlebars to unlock the bike as well as a phone mount for easier navigation.
The bikes now feature a retractable cable lock to offer riders more flexibility when locking a bike to a rack or structure, the company adds.
Last year, Uber announced its plans to launch its Jump bikes in Seattle as part of a stra
