Gojek to expand ride-hailing service across Singapore

Indonesian start-up Gojek is to extend its ride-hailing service across the whole of Singapore following the success of a limited service area roll-out.

The island-wide service is part of the Gojek’s continued beta phase in which users can join a waiting list to gain access to the company’s ride-hailing app.
Additionally, Gojek has introduced dynamic pricing, a strategy in which prices increase or decrease based on demand, to help reduce waiting times for commuters and drivers.
Gojek is not the only company broadening its mobility offering in Singapore. Floating car service Zipcar Flex (Zipcar), which is said to save 54% of transport costs compared to ride-hailing companies, has been made available to 3.5m Londoners across several Boroughs. Governor of Colorado Jared Polis has signed an executive order which outlines a suite of initiatives to support a transition to zero emission vehicles (ZEV) in the US state.
Polis says: “Our goal is to reach 100% renewable electricity by 2040 and embrace the green energy transition already underway economy-wide”
He believes the public health and environmental benefits of widespread transportation electrification will increase as the state moves towards a cleaner electric grid.

The Scanacar Parking Space Classifier recognises and classifies empty parking spaces. This opens the way to mapping out parking areas and informing drivers and navigation systems about available parking spaces. It also enables efficient enforcement of illegal parking, for instance in loading bays or disabled places.
Careem is to provide a transportation service to patients travelling to and from Saudi German Hospitals (SGH) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
SGH is a provider of healthcare services located in the Middle East and North Africa region with hospitals located in areas such as Egypt and Dubai.
Makarem Sobhi Batterjee, vice chairman, SGH, told the Saudi Gazette: “This agreement will help pave the way in addressing our patient’s transportation needs.”
