Gojek to expand ride-hailing service across Singapore

Indonesian start-up Gojek is to extend its ride-hailing service across the whole of Singapore following the success of a limited service area roll-out.

The island-wide service is part of the Gojek’s continued beta phase in which users can join a waiting list to gain access to the company’s ride-hailing app.
Additionally, Gojek has introduced dynamic pricing, a strategy in which prices increase or decrease based on demand, to help reduce waiting times for commuters and drivers.
Gojek is not the only company broadening its mobility offering in Singapore. The city of Birmingham is home to the highest number of ultra-low emission vehicles (ULEVs) in the UK, according to new research: there were 12,247 licenced models as of Q4 last year, says number plate specialist Click4reg.

Ride-share company Via has expanded its operating zone in Chicago by offering a mobility service to and from 65 Chicago Transit Authority and Metra stations for $2.50.
This rate is available to riders booking trips up to two miles within the zone, which includes areas such as Austin, Garfield and South Deering.
Alex Lavoie, US general manager of Via, says the service will “provide greater access across the entire city for residents, workers and visitors in these communities.”

The Regional Transportation District (RTD) in Denver, Colorado, has entered into an agreement which will allow its riders to view transit routes within Uber’s app.
RTD says the collaboration will allow commuters to plan their travel with additional first/last mile options.
Riders can select the app’s ‘Transit’ option to see available routes, real-time schedules and walking directions to and from stations.
Looking ahead, the partnership intends to allow riders to purchase RTD tickets via the app,
EVgo has deployed Autocharge technology in North America in a bid to allow customers to charge electric vehicles (EVs) without using apps or credit cards.
Autocharge instantly recognises the EV and begins charging automatically, the company says.
It is being launched on EVgo’s dedicated Maven Gig network – which offers rental cars for drivers who need a car to work for ride-share and delivery services.
