Gojek to expand ride-hailing service across Singapore

Indonesian start-up Gojek is to extend its ride-hailing service across the whole of Singapore following the success of a limited service area roll-out.

The island-wide service is part of the Gojek’s continued beta phase in which users can join a waiting list to gain access to the company’s ride-hailing app.
Additionally, Gojek has introduced dynamic pricing, a strategy in which prices increase or decrease based on demand, to help reduce waiting times for commuters and drivers.
Gojek is not the only company broadening its mobility offering in Singapore. BYD has delivered five electric C6 buses to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation in Kathmandu to help improve air quality in Nepal. The buses will operate in Lumbini, a Buddhist pilgrimage and UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) world heritage site. Lyft is launching a Green Mode feature within its app to provide riders in Seattle with the option to travel in an electric or hybrid vehicle.
The move follows the company’s planned introduction of thousands of electric vehicles (EVs) onto its platform this year.
Lyft says the deployment will allow its drivers to increase net earnings as it says the cost of travelling in an EV is half that of a petrol-powered car, therefore saving hundreds of dollars per month on fuel costs.
