1862 Gewi is to demonstrate its work zone and 6897 Waze solutions at the ITS Europe Conference in Strasbourg, France and at ITS Asia Pacific in Hong Kong. Organisations looking to collect smart work zone data or integrate Waze data into their traffic operations centres can see demonstrations of the latest generation of GEWI’s TIC software.

New work zone features in TIC provide for management of all elements of a work zone project, including planning, issuing permits, work zone operation and distribution of traffic information about the work zone. TIC can also collect real-time information from sensors and devices in the work zone to enable the monitoring of work zone progress and accurate distribution of travel conditions through the work zone.

Gewi has also completed integration of the Waze data format into the TIC software. This enables public agencies to quickly integrate Waze data into their traffic operations centres and take action on the Waze data based on the specific data type. For example, using the TIC project feature enables users to use pothole data from Waze to automatically create a pothole repair project and track each step of the repair project to completion.

Add to that the supporting work and research efforts of the many parts of Ertico (ITS Europe); plus each of the 27 European Union member states is working on ‘transition’ of the EU’s ITS Directive into their ow

In an effort to make Pennsylvania’s roads safer and more efficient, the PA Turnpike Commission (PTC) entered a data-sharing partnership with Waze, a real-time, crowdsourced navigation app. Designed as a two-way data share of traffic information, the Waze Connected Citizens Program promotes greater efficiency, deeper insights and safer roads. Users of the app – called “Wazers” – along with other drivers and agencies, like the PTC, collaborate to improve the accuracy, timeliness and availability of roadway

In-vehicle and traffic data company Waycare has signed a deal with navigation app Waze. The partnership will see the pair swapping aggregated road traffic data, enabling city and public agencies to communicate directly with vehicles on the road and to harness real-time in-vehicle data to improve safety and traffic flow. The companies say the arrangement shows how driver communities can benefit from interacting with municipal traffic organisations. Noam Maital, CEO of Waycare, says it will “further enable

Telematics Technology's Peter Billington describes the effort to give English local authorities and police forces a UTMC ANPR open communication protocol. The story of the impact of communication protocols on the development and utilisation of intelligent equipment is a familiar one both inside and outside the ITS industry. At the outset, a company pioneering its latest technology invariably develops a proprietary protocol. This enables the company's products to talk to the customer systems which need to a
