Traffic management equipment supplier 1763 Econolite has signed an exclusive distributor agreement with 686 Pelco Products to distribute its IntelliCross Advanced Pedestrian System (APS), which enables vulnerable and disabled pedestrians to safely navigate intersections.

The technology, which will first be distributed in select regions of the western US, is designed with the future in mind and has been developed to be the most advanced accessible pedestrian signal available. An APS is designed to enable pedestrians with disabilities to cross the intersection by means of audible tones, verbal messages and/or vibrating surfaces.

IntelliCross provides transportation agencies with the ability to convert a pre-timed intersection to a fully actuated intersection. In addition, its wireless button configuration enables the ability to configure all the buttons at one time using a computer.

Econolite will be the exclusive distributor for Pelco IntelliCross in Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and select counties in California. Econolite Canada is already a distributor of IntelliCross in Canada.
