Mudassir Sheikha, CEO and co-founder of Careem, is quoted as saying: “Our technology is helping create employment opportunities and providing essential mobility for millions of people in Iraq.”

Mohamed Al-Hakim, general manager of Careem Iraq says: “Within the next five years, our vision is to serve hundreds of thousands of customers and create more than ten thousand job opportunities in Basra.”

Careem’s entry into Basra serves as an extension to its debut in Iraq’s capital Baghdad last year, which was then followed by an expansion into the city of Najaf.
