Electronic and mechanical data from buses is analysed and presented to drivers and company managers using different KPIs and representation techniques such as heat maps. On-board units can also provide real-time suggestions to drivers as they go along. ADN says fuel consumption improvements of up to 10% can be achieved. The open-source software can be integrated with existing third-party systems such as automatic vehicle monitoring (AVM). Bled has been used by Seville public bus operator 6387 TUSSAM, where the company says its deployment has led to fewer vehicle accidents and reduced driver stress. Other major fleet customers include ALSA 1002 National Express Spain and Morocco.
Driver shortage, commercially-viable roads and Brexit uncertainty position the UK to develop and benefit from autonomous freighting, says Inrix. The analytics company's latest report has identified the A1 from Sheffield to Edinburgh as the most suitable corridor for testing highly automated vehicles (HAV).
The Inrix Automated Freight Corridor Assessment reveals the next best-suited corridor is the M5/A38 from Plymouth to Birmingham, followed by the M4 from Swindon to Swansea.
Governor of Colorado Jared Polis has signed an executive order which outlines a suite of initiatives to support a transition to zero emission vehicles (ZEV) in the US state.
Polis says: “Our goal is to reach 100% renewable electricity by 2040 and embrace the green energy transition already underway economy-wide”
He believes the public health and environmental benefits of widespread transportation electrification will increase as the state moves towards a cleaner electric grid.
