Amazon India has deployed nearly 100 Mahindra Electric three-wheeler electric vehicles (EV) in seven cities.

In a blog post, Amazon India says the Mahindra Treo Zor EVs are operating with its network of delivery service partners in the cities of Bengaluru, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Indore and Lucknow.

Last year, Amazon India confirmed its fleet of delivery vehicles will include 10,000 EVs by 2025. This pledge was made in addition to a global commitment of 100,000 EVs in the delivery fleet by 2030 as part of the Climate Pledge.

In 2019, Amazon co-founded The Climate Pledge - a commitment to be net zero carbon across its business by 2040, 10 years ahead of the Paris Agreement.

Shri Nitin Gadkari, Indian government minister of road transport & highways, micro, small & medium enterprises, says the partnership reaffirms India's progress in the electric mobility industry.

“We are confident that the government’s efforts to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles in the country, and steps taken towards setting up of infrastructure backed by policy measures will help more companies adopt e-mobility.” Gadkari adds.

Mahindra CEO Mahesh Babu says the Treo Zor EVs offer power of 8 kW and a paylod of 550 kg.

“The success of our Treo range of three-wheelers has proved that electric vehicles in the last mile segment is a win-win solution for our customers as well as the larger society,” Babu adds.

According to Amazon India, the Treo Zor provides an advanced Lithium-ion battery and ease of charging, making it easy for delivery partners to charge the vehicles in various locations.
