GTT set to expand emergency vehicle pre-emption market

542 Global Traffic Technologies (GTT), the US-based company behind the Opticom emergency vehicle pre-emption (EVP) and transit signal priority (TSP) and Canoga traffic sensing products, has embarked on a major initiative to expand international sales outside of North America.

More than 50,000 first response vehicles across 3,000 authorities use its EVP system and are said to report improvements in response times of up to 25% and a 70% reduction in crashes. And according to company CEO Doug Roberts, initial feedback from the transit schedule adherence module of the TSP system is that it is providing a “substantial improvement”.

Traditionally the company has operated in North America but has recently installed systems or set up trials in Europe, the Middle East and Asia and has now appointed UK-based Richard Eltze as VP to cover the EMEA markets.
