Eco-AT: Release 1 of C-ITS system specifications

The ECo-AT (European Corridor – Austrian Testbed for Cooperative Systems) is the Austrian part of the Cooperative ITS corridor crossing Germany, Netherlands and Austria. It aims to specify and implement harmonised and standardised cooperative ITS applications. A workshop will be organised on 15 January in Vienna, where the specifications will be discussed with the C-ITS community.

    Scooter-share firm Bird is to acquire Scoot, a San Francisco-based electric vehicle (EV) company. Scoot began deploying electric scooters in San Francisco in 2012 and has expanded in Santiago, Chile and Barcelona. Travis VanderZanden, founder and CEO of Bird says the partnership will work toward replacing “car trips with micro mobility options for all”.   • UK freight trains to be upgraded with European Train Control Systems

    Network Rail has contracted Siemens Rail Automation to install European Train Control System (ETCS) in-cab signalling on 750 of the UK's heaviest locomotives to improve safety and provide better use of the network with plans to retrofit the entire fleet in 2022.
