The US Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) is to hold an ITS Discovery Group meeting to explore the need for consumer electronics (CE) industry standards related to intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and broadband access in vehicles.

The event will take place on 22 May at the Marriott Cherry Creek in Denver, and will include speakers from the federal government and the CE industry. The presentations will be followed by an open discussion to determine what CEA should do to further the advancement of ITS systems and broadband access in vehicles.

“Two-way communications among vehicles, between vehicles and the transportation infrastructure, and between vehicles and the telecommunications infrastructure are growing rapidly and will continue to grow for years to come,” said James Tranchina, vice president, engineering, Voxx International, and co-chair of CEA’s Portable, Handheld and In-Vehicle Electronics Committee. “I look forward to a very productive discussion in Denver next month.”
