Devices such as IP surveillance cameras, scanners and wireless access points within mobile and industrial settings may be integrated without the use of separate 48V power supplies, while four PoE injector switch ports provide full 6781 IEEE 802.3af support, enabling connection of a wide range of PoE devices.

Designed for reliable deployment in harsh conditions, with a rugged heat-dissipating IP30-rated industrial aluminum housing, the device features a wide operating temperature range, redundant power inputs, port alarms, and reliable data transmission with support for QoS (quality of service), ensuring high quality video traffic transmission by adjusting the data transfer priority to guarantee throughput performance.

“The ES7106-VB is an excellent solution for transportation security, industrial applications, and IT environments where the ease-of-use and reliability of drop-in PoE connectivity is essential,” says Comtrol’s President, Bradford Beale.

  • Options abound for road weather sensing
    September 6, 2017
Meteorological organisations invest millions in super-computers to crunch data for ever-more accurate forecasts but inherent unpredictability means that other methods of alerting drivers and road authorities to fast-changing weather and highway conditions are essential. For years, static weather sensors to measure factors such as surface water, ice or high roadway temperatures have been embedded in highways to provide such data. But that is changing.

The Finnish Meteorological Institute is currently testing two-way delivery of local weather data as Timo Sukuvaara explains. Road weather information is one of the key ways in which ITS can help reduce traffic accidents and fatalities – which is why the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) has long provided road weather services. Now, the CoMoSeF (Cooperative Mobility Services of the Future) project has been developing communication methodologies to deliver road weather services directly to vehicles and g
