Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) is to extend its SimplyGo system to allow commuters to pay for transport via Visa contactless cards from 6 June.
The move follows an initial launch in which SimplyGo was made available for commuters using Mastercard in March.
Yeo Teck Guan, LTA senior group director, public transport, says: “We are seeing a steady uptake in usage since its launch, with an average of over 120,000 daily trips. With the inclusion of Visa, more commuters will benefit,”

Users who have EZ-Link/NETS FlashPay functionality built into their cards will need to visit a general ticketing machine to switch their payment mode to bank card.
Enterprise CarShare has launched a short-term car rental service aimed at University of Delaware (UD) students and staff.
Delaware is the latest campus to sign up for the service, which targets people who typically need a vehicle for just a few hours.
Richard Rind, UD’s director of auxiliary services, says: “Many UD students and community members don’t have access to a car to take them where they need to go.”

A self-driving bus trial in the Austrian capital Vienna has been halted after a collision between a vehicle and pedestrian, says Bloomberg.
Authorities are now investing the cause of the incident which led to minor injuries.

Quantum XYZ is seeking to use SureFly’s eight-rotor hybrid ‘octocopters’ to launch an air taxi service in Los Angeles.
SureFly, a subsidiary of US technology company Workhorse, is currently pursuing Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) type certification for its electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
Quantum intends to submit an application to become a FAA-certified urban VTOL air carrier.
The company’s president, Tony Thompson, says: “Once SureFly receives FAA Type certification, we
