2067 Omnitron Systems says its high-power Power over Ethernet (HPoE) switches enable fibre optic distance extension to HPoE powered devices.

Sankar Ramachandran, Omnitron’s product marketing director, says the PoE RuggedNet and OmniConverter fibre switches allow users to deploy Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras with heaters and blowers, small cells, and multi-stream wireless access points at any distance from the head end network equipment.

According to Ominitron, the RuggedNet is designed for transportation and Internet of Things applications while the OmniConverter switches are suitable for commercial network deployments.

Both switches feature one- or two-fibre Gigabit ports and four 10/100/1000 RJ-45 ports which are expected to deliver 15.4W PoE, 30W PoE+ and 60W HpoE. They also provide 60 Watts of HPoE power on all four ports, the company adds.

Managed versions of RuggedNet and OmniConverter come with an IP-based web interface which allows users to monitor the status and configure hardware parameters using a web browser. Users can also obtain unmanaged versions of both models.

A directed switch mode is intended to prevent port flooding by routing traffic directly to destination ports. For Models with two fibre ports, a dual device mode allows the device to operate as two separate PoE switches with independent fibre uplinks and RJ-45 ports.
