Ficosa pledges €500m investment in C/AV technology

Spanish firm Ficosa is to put €500m into R&D over the next four years to provide new technology for connected and autonomous vehicles (C/AVs). The firm believes that revenue from its technology systems will rise from €100 million to €800 million over the next five years. Spanish firm Ficosa is to put €500m into R&D over the next four years to provide new technology for connected and autonomous vehicles (C/AVs).

The firm believes that revenue from its technology systems will rise from €100 million to €800 million over the next five years.

The company had overall revenues of €1.28 billion in 2017 and says it invested nearly 8% of sales in R&D.

Ficosa developed and manufactured the Audi e-Tron’s digital rear-view system, composed of cameras and screens instead of the conventional exterior mirrors.

Javier Pujol, Ficosa CEO, says: “Some years ago, we set our sights on technological products with high value added for the automobile and made a firm commitment to our transformation.

The company is celebrating its 70th birthday this year.
