Representatives from the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) will share their experiences in designing the Wrong Way Entry and Pedestrian in Crosswalk applications at The U.S. Department of Transportation's (USDOT's) free webinar on the Connected Vehicle Pilot Deployment Program, 17 January. These technologies have the potential to save lives, improve personal mobility, enhance economic productivity, reduce environmental impacts, and transform public agency operations.

The pilot, sponsored by the USDOT Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office, represents a national effort to deploy and test mobile and roadside technologies and enable multiple connected vehicle applications.

This webinar will also identify technical and other barriers that THEA faces and how they will be overcome as well as discuss testing and performance measurements of the app.

THEA is one of three agencies awarded a cooperative agreement by the USDOT, collectively valued $45m (£33m), to initiate a connected vehicle pilot along with Wyoming Department of Transport (DoT) and, New York City's DoT. These sites are now toward the end of a 20-month phase to design, build and test the technologies. From September 2015 to September 2016, each of them prepared a comprehensive deployment concept which aims for a rapid and efficient connected vehicle capability roll-out.
