TRL upgrades Transyt 15 software

TRL has upgraded its Transyt software used in designing, modelling and optimising road layouts from individual isolated junctions to large and complex networks. 491 TRL has upgraded its Transyt software used in designing, modelling and optimising road layouts from individual isolated junctions to large and complex networks.

Version 15.0.1 can now lock a stage on one controller to a stage on another, which is useful for modelling linked controller streams. To cater for circulating traffic streams, the upgraded software now also has roundabout priority object.

This new version can link to both Aimsun 7 and Aimsun 8 in both both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. This enables the import and control of any combination of fixed time controllers, irrespective of the cycle time they are running allowing Transyt to cater for multiple cycle times.

David Crawford welcomes new lives for old road safety products. Traffic cones and barrels have traditionally been on the bottom shelf of the road construction and maintenance industry, typically forming visible soft safety barriers for temporary works at a lower cost than concrete alternatives. On both sides of the Atlantic, however, they are fast gaining new roles as instrumented components in advanced construction safety arrays. The European Commission’s SeRoN research project has drawn to a close, having developed a sophisticated method of identifying and quantifying threats to critical infrastructure. In December 2008 the European Commission published the directive 2008/114/EC on the identification, designation and assessment of the need to improve ‘European critical infrastructure’. In line with the objectives formulated in this directive, the SeRoN (Security of Road Transport Networks) research project was established in Novemb
