3264 PTV Group and 7087 TNO, The Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research, are to join forces to help cities resolve mobility, urban planning and environmental challenges, by combining PTV Visum and TNO Urban Strategy.

The interaction between the two applications aims to provide the ability to test strategies and policies for congestion and air pollution prior to implementation to provide interactive planning support and transport modelling. According to TNO, it will enable cities to accelerate their transport and mobility mix applications, taking into account traffic, noise, air, safety, energy or costs.

PTV’s software solutions help cities combat congestion and pollution
Smart cities must rely on a mobility mix, real-time predictive models and collaborations, argues PTV’s Miller Crockart. Transport is reaching a new frontier and cities are at the forefront of the trend: for many urbanites, mobility no longer equals a privately-owned vehicle. They want on-demand services that cater for their individual mobility needs efficiently and sustainably - whether that is shared bikes or autonomous electric vehicles. Private car ownership will not drop overnight. The smooth

PTV launches latest Visum 15 software
The new release of PTV’s transport planning software, PTV Visum 15, is said to set new standards in multimodality and allow even more sustainable transport planning. New functions available in the software include the ability to analyse the demand, quantity and placement of park and ride (P+R) sites, enabling users to evaluate existing and future capacities. To allow users to model cycle and vehicle route-planning, PTV has enhanced the stochastic assignment so that path-level impedance elements can now be r

    Scorecard scores
For situations where normal cost-benefit analysis doesn't work, TNO has developed Scorecard. How can governments ascertain the best strategy for implementing innovative solutions that are influenced by knowledge and technology as well as political context, human behaviour, impact on process and organisation? TNO, the Netherlands-headquartered applied scientific research organisation, has created a scorecard that helps assess developments like SAFESPOT, the major European project which is designing cooperati
