    Developments in software visualisation packages
Adrian Greeman looks at developments in software visualisation packages. The capacity to make visualisations has been growing in importance over the last decade, and is now a well-accepted part of consultations and client presentations. But making high-quality images of projects is still a major undertaking and larger consultancies employ specialist departments to do so. Costs are coming down but it can still take a while, and some high-capacity hardware, to produce realistic renderings from drawings and 3D

CCTV system offers 3D traffic monitoring
The latest real-time interactive 3D VR simulation system from Forum8 is designed to improve the way CCTV images are used, and, said the company, is suitable for monitoring traffic/pedestrian flow in real time. VR-StreetView embeds links to the individual camera positions in an interactive 3D model of the target area. Operators can click on any one of the camera icons embedded in the model and a window will open showing live feed from the relevant camera, enabling operators to see precisely where the inci

3D Repo’s VR Simulator helps TRL shape future of autonomous vehicle services
3D Repo is creating 3D virtual reality visualisations to help simulate driverless vehicle routes as part of a US$130 million (£100 million) UK government-backed research project. Led by TRL, the project is part of the Smart Mobility Living Lab, located in Greenwich, London. The Living Lab provides a real-life environment where connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) can be developed, evaluated and integrated with the local community. 3D Repo’s cloud-based Building Information Modelling (BIM) collaboration
