RSS69 International Road Dynamics (IRD) has announced the award of a Quantity Purchase Agreement for weigh-in-motion (WIM) and virtual weigh-in-motion (VWIM) systems, maintenance, and repair from the 735 Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT). Under this agreement, IRD will be issued task orders to deliver, install, commission, calibrate, and support WIM and VWIM equipment at numerous locations across the state.

Each site will be comprised of a sensor array specified by INDOT as appropriate for the type of traffic data to be collected at that location. VWIM systems have the added capability of web access and image capture. According to IRD, the use of web access and image capture provides a more powerful real time tool that can be utilised for commercial vehicle weigh screening. The company, which will work closely with the State as system enhancements and upgrades occur, says the systems supplied under this contract will provide high accuracy traffic and load data to the state for planning and roadway design purposes.

The contract, with an awarded value in excess of US$2.1 million, is a task-order based agreement with no limit to the number of Quantity Purchase Awards (QPAs) to be released, and runs from 1 July, 2011 through June 30, 2015. With the addition of this award, IRD now has four active QPA’s with the State of Indiana.
