Miovision has bought data collection specialist CJ Hensch & Associates, whose clients include government agencies, engineering firms and developers.

The firm says Texas-based Hensch, established in 1995, was an early adopter of its own Miovision Scout multimodal traffic data collection tool.

Miovision co-founder and CEO Kurtis McBride said: “Deeply understanding our customer’s challenges – and how they work – has enabled us to develop really compelling solutions."

"Acquiring CJ Hensch will help us more deeply understand the data collection business. These insights that will shape the evolution of our products, helping all our Scout customers to better serve their clients – and grow their businesses.”

CJ Hensch will be established as a standalone business unit of Miovision, with vice president Roger Allen staying on.

Miovision has hired traffic industry veteran Marshall Cheek to be the unit’s new general manager, with a remit to find finding new opportunities within the business.

“Municipalities and agencies require more traffic data than ever before – with far more detail and deeper insights,” Creek explained. “Finding affordable ways to meet these growing needs is a huge opportunity – one I’m excited to work with our customers and Miovision to explore.”

CJ Hensch is Miovision’s fifth acquisition, following Traffop (signal performance measures), Rapid Flow (adaptive signal control), MicroTraffic (safety analytics) and Global Traffic Technologies (traffic signal preemption & priority).
