Transport planning software provider PTV Group has acquired transport location specialist Axylog, expanding its logistics offering.

“Axylog’s transport visibility solution perfectly complements our route optimisation portfolio and allows us to offer a comprehensive solution for the entire transportation planning and delivery process,” says Christian U. Haas, CEO of PTV Group.

Axylog’s cloud-based transport visibility solution combines real-time monitoring and control, as well as performance analysis for the entire transportation process.

“Transparency and dynamic communication with customers are among today’s key elements for ensuring high-quality services," Haas says.

PTV says the acquisition means that everyone involved in the supply chain - from retailer and shipper to the customer, can easily be kept up to date about the progress of shipments.

PTV Route Optimizer combines orders into optimal routes that reduce mileage and resources, while considering restrictions such as time windows and drive-and-rest regulations.

In a statement, PTV says: "Merging the solutions will open up additional opportunities for new innovations and data-based products."
