1950 Videotec’s new Ulisse compact full HD PTZ camera has been designed to provide high-definition video for a range of applications, including traffic, highway and border control and surveillance.

The network 1080p/60fps full HD camera now incorporates a 30x optical zoom lens, able to accurately identify specific details of a scene and deliver incredibly bright images. Its higher sensitivity and gain level, with improved WDR, defog function and improved autofocus speed enables the camera to offer excellent performance even in extreme low light conditions.

The camera is designed to operate day and night in harsh outdoor environments, ensuring accurate target detection at any time, with no maintenance required. An optional IR LED illuminator allows the camera to provide sharp images of the monitored area during darkness and is able to detect a figure in the dark up to 200m away.

Simple management and control of pan/tilt/zoom functions allows image transmission over Ethernet with H.264/AVC and MJPEG compression and is certified ONVIF-S.

Advances in vision technology are enhancing traffic surveillance and enforcement applications. Variable lighting conditions have long been a stumbling block for vision technology applications in the transport sector. With applications such as ANPR, the read-rate may vary between daylight and night and can be adversely affected by glare and low sun. Madrid, Spain-based Lector Vision had these considerations in mind when designing its Traffic Eye ANPR system, which combines off-the-shelf and custom hardware

Videology has added another extended SDI camera board to its latest range of cameras designed for traffic monitoring, surveillance and other non-traffic functions. Designated the 24RS2.0.XWEXSDI, it can transmit 1080P HD images up to 300m (1,000ft). The camera board is designed to obtain images beyond the human eye without near-IR LED illumination, which can also be used if required. Colour noise is reduced and colour brightness is enhanced. Hikvision has upgraded its Darkfighter night surveillance technology with the DarkfighterX series, which it claims can provide colourful, sharp images down to the light levels of 0.001 lux. DarkfighterX cameras take brightness information from an IR sensor and that from a visible light sensor for colour, and combine them to provide a bright full-colour image. The DarkfighterX series includes a PTZ and bullet cameras - both come with optical defog, 25X optical zoom, 2MP resolution and smart detection.
