The contract will see Jenoptik Traffic Solutions and its local partner Telco International install more than 60 stationary speed and red-light enforcement systems in Qatar as part of the country’s initiative to improve road safety.

TraffiStar systems use non-invasive sensors instead of in-road detectors to monitor traffic in both directions and across several lanes simultaneously, distinguishing between cars and trucks and providing lane and vehicle class data. The system captures images which identify drivers and licence plates. In Qatar, the systems will be housed in the new TraffiTower 2.0 cabinet.

Overall, system performance is well rated, with high levels of

The attendant increases in systems' capabilities have resulted in ANPR being deployed globally
