822 Stemmer Imaging, 78 JAI distributor in several European countries, has announced the new JAI AD-081GE dual CCD camera. It provides independent shutter/gain control for each CCD, enabling the camera to capture details in scenes with a wide variation of light intensities, giving enhanced dynamic range and extremely versatile imaging. This new camera is fully GigE Vision/GeniCam-compliant and features built-in image fusion capabilities for merging the outputs from the two sensors.

Independent control of the shutter and gain for each sensor not only allows the camera to be configured for high dynamic range (HDR) applications but makes it particularly suitable for applications where two extremes of light levels may need to be imaged. Each sensor can be set to give optimum sensitivity for a particular light level.

The IP Revolution for CCTV systems which has been predicted for some years now has failed to happen, says Craig Howie, commercial director of Visimetrics Ltd. Given the many aspects of different technologies and standards involved in moving high-value, observation-critical applications into a pure digital age, this is perhaps unsurprising, he feels.

Integrating control rooms can improve traffic management, security and emergency response without excessive cost or compromising privacy. In the wake of the recent terrorist events in France and Germany where the transport system was exploited with deadly consequences, many governments and agencies are reviewing the security arrangements – particularly around popular and high profile events. Increasing security in transport systems that must remain accessible to the general public will not be easy but in ma
