The latest USB 3.0 industrial cameras from 7178 IDS feature Sony’s second-generation 5 megapixel (2456 x 2054) Pregius CMOS sensors. The 2/3-inch IMX250 and IMX264 sensors’ 3.45µm pixel structure is said to deliver excellent quality and extremely low-noise images even under low-light conditions. In combination with the IDS Software Suite, additional features, including triggered linescan mode, multi AOI and long exposure up to 30 seconds will be available.

According to IDS, the cameras are suitable for the ITS market as well as classical machine vision applications measuring only 29 x 29 x 29mm and have an integrated image memory, magnesium housing and screw-on Micro USB 3.0 and Hirose connectors.

It would be easy to fall into the trap of seeing machine vision as the vision-based solution for ITS and traffic, however Patrik Anderson, Director Business Development Transportation of Axis Communications, notes that many of the applications which are coming to be associated with machine vision – and, indeed, many of the characteristics, such as at-the-edge analytics and image processing – are also possible with open-standard networked video. Networked video brings a whole host of advantages, such as the

Sony Europe’s Image Sensing Solutions says its polarised category of machine vision camera captures polarised light in four different angles. The XCG-CP510 GS CMOS camera simplifies stress inspection, contrast improvement, scratch detection, object detection, removal and enhancement from a single image capture, the company adds. The camera’s module is expected to deliver 5.1 MP polarised B/W images at 23 fps, transmitted over a GigE interface. Sony’s camera includes multiple trigger modes such as edge det

  • New USB3 vision standard released
    January 31, 2013
The USB3 Vision specification, the result of many months of collaboration between some of the machine vision industry's leading technology companies, has been successfully ratified by the Automated Imaging Association (AIA) and members of the USB3 Vision Technical Committee. The aim of the standard is to enable interoperability between USB 3.0 imaging components such as cameras, accessories and software. Like the popular GigE Vision standard, USB3 Vision will provide a framework for transmitting high-speed
