The CarSense CS303-L Logic Interface from 7630 EMX Industries expands the application of CS303 magneto-resistive vehicle sensors into single, two channel and directional detection installations.

While the new sensor is less intrusive then an inductive loop and requires less maintenance, the CS303-L logic interface allows users to configure it as a single or two-channel inductive vehicle detector. The ability to operate the CS303 in a closing loop, vehicle counting and other inductive vehicle detector applications, while also allowing detect on stop and detection axis optimisation, makes it suitable for parking and access control.

The sensors can be retrofitted in an old inductive loop cut or over the existing loops without any interference and rebar has no operational influence on the magneto-resistive sensors.

    Cost-effective alternatives to traditional loops
Traffic signal control is a mainstay of urban congestion management. Despite advances in vehicle detection sensors, inductive loops, which operate by using a magnetic field to detect the metal components in vehicles, are still the most common enabler for intelligent signalised junctions.

Flir smart traffic management in Darmstadt
Part of a larger urban zone, the city of Darmstadt near Frankfurt, Germany, does not escape the problems of traffic congestion. In a bid to improve the situation, the city’s traffic authorities have installed more than 200 video detectors from Flir Systems, along with Flir’s video management system, Flux, which monitors the traffic streams coming from a wide variety of cameras. The city is also using various types of video sensors for vehicle, pedestrian and cycle detection, all of which are used to con

    Braums 2X breaks new ground
‘Ground-breaking’ is an often-over-used term but in the case of the Braums R2X it really is ground-breaking technology that allows for rapid in-ground inductive loop replacement.

    Flir expands Marseille’s tunnel vision
Marseille’s city authority has added the monitoring of a second tunnel to the existing network with a new approach towards video management. Measuring 1.5km in length, the double-deck Prado Sud tunnel extends Marseille’s existing 2.5km Prado Carénage tunnel towards the southern part of the city. While it was logical to use a common control room and to use the latest detection and monitoring systems in the new tunnel, it was deemed too disruptive and costly to completely upgrade the existing tunnel.
