29 Cohu's 3960HD incorporates a day/night 720p/30fps HDTV camera with an integral x18 optical zoom lens which provides consistent image resolution throughout the zoom range. The camera uses true day/night technology, using a removable IR cut filter that creates exceptional low light sensitivity (as low as 0.01fc).

According to the company, this fully integrated, IP-based HDTV/H.264 positioning system solves the traditional limitations of fixed position megapixel cameras by giving users the ability to optically zoom in lieu of the digital-only zooms found on other megapixel cameras.

The 3960HD includes a variable high-speed pan and tilt drive, allowing full 360o continuous pan and +/-90o tilt movements. Manual control speeds range from 0.1 to 80o/s and 180o preset movements in under 2s.

The device incorporates the latest H.264 image compression technology for maintaining HDTV image quality while using fractions of the bandwidth that traditional fixed position megapixel cameras require. The camera has both IP

and traditional composite output video and RS-422 control exposed to integrate seamlessly into analogue and IP systems or into systems going through the transition from analogue to IP.

What is said to be the first 30x zoom camera module with a global shutter sensor is being displayed on Tamron Europe’s stand. Global shutters remove (or minimise) the blur associated with rolling shutters capturing fast-moving objects such as vehicles (as also illustrated on Tamron’s stand). Designated the MP2030M-GS, the module uses a 32mm (1.125inch) 3.2 megapixel Sony global shutter sensor with a digital (LVDS) output or a composite output in the CVBS format. The remotely activated zoom lens ranges in
