The company recently inaugurated a new office in Marke, Belgium, at a ceremony attended by Vincent Van Quickenborne, mayor of Kortrijk, who referred to the many international successes of Traficon and praised the intellectual capital of the company: “Well trained, educated and entrepreneurial people have always been the basis of this company. They are also part of our region’s DNA.”

Vice president and general manager of FLIR Intelligent Transportation Systems, Lode Caenepeel, stressed the smooth collaboration between the former Traficon and the new parent company: “Co-workers from both sides of the Atlantic have had the opportunity to learn from each other over the past few months, and the integration of the former Traficon into FLIR Systems is now at full speed. What’s more, FLIR Intelligent Transportation Systems has been able to establish a very good first quarter, which has been greatly appreciated at the FLIR headquarters.”

Marseille’s city authority has added the monitoring of a second tunnel to the existing network with a new approach towards video management. Measuring 1.5km in length, the double-deck Prado Sud tunnel extends Marseille’s existing 2.5km Prado Carénage tunnel towards the southern part of the city. While it was logical to use a common control room and to use the latest detection and monitoring systems in the new tunnel, it was deemed too disruptive and costly to completely upgrade the existing tunnel.
