Iteris has acquired TrafficCast International in a $16 million deal to expand its reach in the smart mobility infrastructure management market

Wisconsin-based TrafficCast develops software that collects, filters and models real-time traveller information and traffic incident data for its commercial customers.

It also provides sensors and related software to help state and local agencies measure, visualise and manage traffic flow.

Iteris CEO Joe Bergera says TrafficCast's “software and IoT [Internet of Things] devices, as well as its data ingestion, data science and analytics solutions, will enhance the capabilities of our ClearMobility Platform”.

He insists: "This integration will have no impact on existing customers or partners."

TrafficCast CEO Al McGowan says: “As part of Iteris, TrafficCast’s extensive traffic intelligence experience, as well as our comprehensive suite of traveller information and traffic incident products and software applications, will continue to improve the lives of travellers throughout North America.”

Iteris says on its website the ClearMobility solution continuously monitors, visualises and optimises mobility infrastructure.

ClearMobility applies cloud computing, artificial intelligence, advanced sensors, advisory services and managed services to help ensure roads are safe, the firm explains.

Last month, Iteris won a four-year contract from the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners in Florida for a regional smart mobility and safety initiative.
