Israel awards northern line rail tender

Netivei Yisrael, the National Roads Company of Israel, has awarded the US$230 million contract for a major rail contract in Israel to a consortium of Germany’s DB Bahn Bau Gruppe and Israeli companies Shikun & Binui and Lesico. The project comprises three new rail lines with an overall length of 100 kilometres in the north of the country, including track laying, railroad ties and rails, telecommunications and fire detection systems in tunnels. Netivei Yisrael, the National Roads Company of Israel, has awarded the US$230 million contract for a major rail contract in Israel to a consortium of Germany’s DB Bahn Bau Gruppe and Israeli companies Shikun & Binui and Lesico.

The project comprises three new rail lines with an overall length of 100 kilometres in the north of the country, including track laying, railroad ties and rails, telecommunications and fire detection systems in tunnels. On conclusion of the work, the tracks will be transferred to Israel Railways, which will operate the trains.
