Goggo & Oxbotica drive AV logistics in Spain

Full autonomy is eventual plan as Goggo Network works with retailers such as Carrefour

Goggo plans to start operating with safety drivers to oversee entire autonomous mobility network in 2023

Electric and autonomous logistics vehicle operator Goggo Network is deploying Oxbotica’s autonomous driving software in Spain.
 
The system will be introduced into Goggo’s middle- and last-mile delivery operations in its key industries, including groceries and food delivery, deployed as part of Goggo’s EV network.

The Spanish operation is in partnership with retailers Carrefour, Día and Telepizza - and if this is successful, Goggo is set to include Oxbotica within its wider mobility network across cities in Europe including those in France.

“Our collaboration will enable Goggo to provide an unparalleled experience for autonomous middle- and last-mile deliveries throughout Europe... We are excited to see how this collaboration can have a positive impact in the logistics industry, helping some of the critical challenges it faces today.” 
 
Oxbotica says its autonomous driving software is capable of driving both on and off road, in various weather conditions, low light and darkness, and able to adapt to any location (e.g. local road or site routes), using advanced AI to accurately sense and predict changes to the environment the vehicle is in, while learning from previous journeys.

The companies say that, by 2026, driver shortage across Europe is expected to triple, with the total topping two million - and that AVs may help provide a solution.
 
“We look forward to deploying our unique autonomy solution into their mobility network,” said Gavin Jackson, CEO at Oxbotica.

Goggo will also use Oxbotica’s fleet management system to safely and effectively operate its AVs, and optimise operational performance.
 
It will also use Oxbotica MetaDriver - a suite of tools that uses generative AI and machine learning to validate, verify and ensure the safety of AVs in a virtual environment.
 
Goggo says it plans to start operating with safety drivers to oversee its entire autonomous mobility network in 2023.

Once the respective safety validations have been completed and regulatory clearance obtained, it will make the transition to full autonomy, the firm says.
