XCam-ng sensors are designed to replace or expand on in-road magnetic loop detectors with advanced vehicle detection functions such as real time queue measurement or intersection gridlock monitoring.

Ideal for use at intersections and on-ramps, XCam sensors measure vehicle queues in real time, allowing traffic signal cycles to be adapted to optimise traffic flow.

By reducing the waiting time at the intersection by 10 to 15 per cent on average, the traffic management system reduces in the same proportion the emission of pollution and greenhouse gases emissions.

Citilog will also take part in the Summer Olympics in Rio in 2016 since its XCam sensors have been deployed along the intersections of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) linking Rio to its suburbs.

Citilog's new CamEdge expands smart sensor series
Citilog, a global leader in AID (automatic incident detection), is here at Intertraffic to introduce XCamEdge, a new innovation in the company’s XCam smart sensor series. Initially developed and designed for intersection control applications such as presence detection with XCam-p, the XCam range quickly expanded, with the XCam-ng, to smart detection for intersections with queue monitoring and anti-gridlock applications. Indeed, the latest success for the XCam-ng is the smart traffic control system in Sochi

    Olympic challenges in Sochi
Sporting events always create problems for traffic planners and none more so than the Winter Olympics. It is difficult to think of more diametrically opposite challenges for transport planners than the 2012 Olympics in London and this year’s Winter Olympics in Sochi: from a summer event in the heart of a megacity with well established transport infrastructure to winter games with unpredictable weather and events in remote and mountainous locations. The Winter Games are always a challenge and Sochi was no di

Citilog and Signal Group sign strategic alliance
France’s Citilog and Signal Group of the US yesterday signed a ‘strategic alliance’ to combine their technologies, with the aim of delivering advanced ITS video analytics solutions to the North American market. Citilog will combine its capabilities in video analytics with Signal Group’s expertise in traffic controllers, with the first product designed to reduce traffic waiting times at intersections through the integration of real-time queue length calculation into adaptive intersection control.
