The city of La Habra in Orange County, California, has awarded Iteris a contract for a regional traffic signal synchronisation project focused on the Euclid Street corridor.

The five-year, $1.3 million agreement, is led by La Habra but will also include Caltrans and the surrounding cities of Fullerton, Anaheim, Garden Grove, Santa Ana and Fountain Valley.

Funded by the Orange County Transit Authority’s Regional Traffic Signal Synchronization Program (RTSSP), it will involve 136 intersections and six agencies.

Iteris will provide signal timing design, communication design, construction support, integration, operations and maintenance and will use its ClearGuide Software as a Service (SaaS) solution to improve mobility throughout the corridor.

ClearGuide allows traffic operators to remotely monitor arterial travel times and reliability, identifying congestion hotspots and prioritising retiming efforts.

Steven Bradley, regional vice president, mobility professional services at Iteris, says: “This initiative represents the continued expansion of Iteris’ managed services and SaaS solutions across the West Coast, and will ultimately help to increase the value, effectiveness and resilience of the corridor’s existing transportation infrastructure.”

Iteris has completed and published the Alameda County Transportation Commission (Alameda CTC) 2014 Level of Service Monitoring Report. The report was generated for speed-based congestion monitoring, utilising big data analytics in place of conventional in-field manual data collection for 205 miles of the 327 mile network. Use of big data analytics will be expanded in future monitoring cycles. Many agencies conduct congestion monitoring through manual data collection efforts. Agencies traditionally us

  • Reducing detection costs benefits intersection management
    February 3, 2012
The continuing, favourable performance-versus-cost situation concerning detection and monitoring technologies is driving the proliferation of intelligence across road networks. The effective and safe management of intersections is a focus for network operators and systems manufacturers alike. The most complicated of road environments, and statistically among the least safe, intersections enjoy particular emphasis in longer-term work on cooperative infrastructure solutions. However there are current developm
