Econolite has bought the "operational business" of its distribution partner RAI Products.

RAI, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, specialises in signalised intersections, distributing traffic control and traffic safety equipment to municipalities, departments of transportation and contractors throughout the Southeast US.

Jim Madden, Econolite’s vice president, eastern sales, is positive about "this expanded relationship and the opportunity to leverage our joint resources in delivering continued high quality traffic management technologies and services to our customers".

Econolite, part of Umovity, says the acquisition enables the firm "to further expand its one-stop-shop portfolio of ITS solutions while strengthening its vendor relations and distribution reach, particularly in the Southeast region".

RAI was formed in 1954. Company president John Rosenblatt says: “This acquisition represents our steadfast commitment to  sustainable mobility by providing the industry with the best traffic control technologies and ITS solutions.”
