Swiss manufacturer of non-intrusive road-traffic detectors 1803 ADEC Technologies has extended its range of Doppler radar traffic detectors with the 75 metre detection range of the TDD1-MW75, which is specifically designed for green phase request or extension at temporary or permanent traffic lights.

The detector augments the TDD1 series of Doppler radar traffic detectors that provide simple contact closure output and allow for easy customisation using an infrared remote.

The TDD1-MW75 can be configured for detection ranges of 30, 45 and 75 metres using the infrared remote control, available as an accessory.

Wireless transmission of data and control information is making smarter traffic management easier and cheaper to install. It has long been known that connectivity is the key to improving traffic management and many cost-benefit studies prove that investment in new technology can be justified in terms of reduced congestion, shorter travel times, improved safety and air quality. However, many authorities’ cap-ex budgets only cover urgent matters, not improvements, making it difficult, if not impossible to

Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)-based positioning is unique among available positioning technology due to its universal coverage and low equipment cost. By measuring the distances between an unknown position (such as a vehicle), and at least three known positions (GPS satellites), the unknown position can be calculated in three dimensions (latitude, longitude, and

    November 12, 2014
Marseille’s city authority has added the monitoring of a second tunnel to the existing network with a new approach towards video management. Measuring 1.5km in length, the double-deck Prado Sud tunnel extends Marseille’s existing 2.5km Prado Carénage tunnel towards the southern part of the city. While it was logical to use a common control room and to use the latest detection and monitoring systems in the new tunnel, it was deemed too disruptive and costly to completely upgrade the existing tunnel.
