Rad to connect smart cameras over 5G

Rad is deploying traffic cameras across Israel to monitor and control road infrastructure and traffic conditions in a pilot project aimed at promoting the use of 5G. 

Rad – a telecom solutions vendor – says these cameras are connected over fibre optics, which limits the addition of required cameras in sites that are not served by fibre.

According to Rad, the pilot will deliver live video feeds from traffic cameras over a 5G network using its SecFlow, which would enable fast addition of many new cameras regardless of fibre availability.

SecFlow is an Industrial Internet of Things gateway, used in large scale automated networks in smart cities. 

It is expected to aggregate and deliver data about vehicle traffic from smart meters, sensors, control units, CCTV cameras and other smart devices over any network, with unified management and fast threat response. 

The pilot will be carried out together with Israel's National Transport Infrastructure Company on behalf of the Israel's Ministry of Communications and the Israel Innovation Authority
