Traffic Technology Limited has announced that they have partnered with Bluetrace of The Netherlands, enabling them to introduce an innovative and effective journey time system that simply and cost-effectively meets the challenge of providing the network management performance data required by local authorities. RSS561 Traffic Technology Limited has announced that they have partnered with Bluetrace of The Netherlands, enabling them to introduce an innovative and effective journey time system that simply and cost-effectively meets the challenge of providing the network management performance data required by local authorities. Bluetrace Traffic works in networks with other Bluetrace units to accurately capture the unique MAC address of passing 1835 Bluetooth and wi-fi devices, building a network of origin and destination points and determining journey times.

    Vehicle counting and travel time determination is said to be easier and more accurate using Bluetrace which detects both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signals from motorists smart phones. According to the Netherlands-based company's UK importer Rennicks, only 10% of mobile phone owners have Bluetooth activated whereas most have the Wi-Fi switched on leading to a hit rate of 98% which increase accuracy and granularity while maintaining the anonymity of a non-ANPR system.
