Innoviz Lidar targets V2X in China

Combined tech tie-up with JeuFX is expected to help sensors with obstacle detection

Innoviz Technologies' Lidar is to monitor traffic in China so that JeuFX’s Vehicle to Everything (V2X) technology can share this data with autonomous vehicles (AV).

Innoviz co-founder Omer Keilaf says: “Lidar is well-known for its ability to enable safe automated and autonomous driving, however, attention is now being given to how it can improve V2X solutions - the missing piece of the autonomous driving puzzle. To create safer roads, autonomous vehicles need to be able to identify, categorise and react to objects in their path as well as anticipate blind spots and what's to come."

JeuFX – an artificial intelligence technology company – intends to install the InnovizOne Lidar on traffic poles and bridges to monitor the traffic in real-time. 

Combining InnovizOne Lidar data with JueFX’s V2X solution may improve road conditions in which sensors placed on roads can report in real-time on obstacles that are out of the line of sight of a vehicle. This can include situations where pedestrians or cyclists are behind buildings or when vehicles that are moving towards the road are about to cross it. 

The combined technology is also expected to help situations where sensors placed on road poles can report that a car or truck is merging onto the road from a side road or beyond a curve in the road, and alert other vehicles to the emerging vehicle. 

JueFX CEO Andy Lee says: “Our goal is to link industries through our data platform and build a broad alliance to empower multi-scene autonomous driving.”

According to Innoviz, JueFX's solutions enable the integration of real-time sensor data with environmental data, combining road data and computing engine to form a data and decision platform. 

JueFX provides AV solutions through the combination of road data and edge computing.
