Haas Alert is taking part in a smart corridor deployment programme which it says will help advance connected vehicle applications in the US state of Georgia.

The programme will deploy a suite of connected vehicle and smart corridor solutions for citizens in Gwinnett County, including public safety, transit and municipal vehicles.

It will combine Cellular Vehicle to Everything (C-V2X) technology with Haas' Safety Cloud collision prevention service via a single on-board unit.

According to Haas, the solution will enable advanced connected vehicle applications and capabilities, including digital alerting, emergency vehicle pre-emption and transit signal priority, delivering safer roads and improved traffic flow.

Jeremy Agulnek, Haas’ senior vice president of connected vehicle, says: “Haas Alert is all about delivering roadway safety using widely available technologies. That means utilising LTE cellular networks today, and evolving to harness the 5G and C-V2X capabilities of tomorrow. This project is a great example of delivering immediate safety value to everyone today while simultaneously preparing for the future.”

In the months ahead, Haas is to share more details on how its safety cloud fits into a plan by the Georgia and Gwinnett Department of Transportations for the future of smart city, mobility and connected transportation.

Aside from Haas, other partners in the project include Kapsch, Q-free, Arcadis, Brandmotion, Integrity Security Services, Metro Trafix and ReachRF.
