136 Traffex 2011 sees the world launch of the 143 Truvelo 'D-Cam L', a dual-capability speed and red light camera. The versatile device may be used as a speed camera alone, or be deployed at a red light intersection where it will monitor red light offences and act as a speed camera on the green and amber phases. It digitally signs, encrypts and stores two images for a red light offence and one image for a speed offence.

Up to four laser sensors are permanently mounted in the D-Cam L's roadside housing, along with the camera itself.

There is no roadside computer cabinet required as the D-Cam L contains all the necessary image capture and transmission modules onboard. Images are transmitted to the Truvelo Back-Office Server (TBOS) by ADSL or 3G/HSDPA. One TBOS can handle up to 30 cameras.

UK technology company Truvelo is launching a mobile speed enforcement camera to combat driving offences. Called LaserCam 4, the solution combines laser speedmeter capabilities with high-quality video and can be used by static safety camera partnership vehicles. LaserCam 4 records evidential video clips of speeding and other infractions onto an internal solid-state memory. Truvelo exhibited the solution at the Traffex Seeing is Believing conference in Leicestershire, UK, on 27-28 June. The event had an i
  • Transportation applications move to machine vision’s mainstream

The adaptation of machine vision to transport applications continues apace. That the machine vision industry is taking traffic installations seriously is evident by the amount of hardware and software products tailor-made for ITS applications that are now available on the market. A good example comes from US-based Gridsmart Technologies which has developed a single wire fisheye camera that provides a horizon to horizon view for use at intersections. Not only does the single camera replace four or more in a
